At HomeandFashion.love, we believe the best recipes don’t shout — they whisper. They invite you in with soft elegance and leave behind a feeling of lightness. This Lemon Mousse with Berries is one such dessert — delicate, airy, and kissed with citrus. It’s the kind of dessert you serve when you want something refined, refreshing, and unforgettable.
Ingredients
• 1/2 oz unflavored gelatin
• 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup whipping cream
• 2.5 oz egg whites (about 2 large egg whites)
• Fresh seasonal berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries — or all three)
Method
Step 1: Bloom the Gelatin
In a small saucepan, sprinkle gelatin over the lemon juice and let it bloom for 5 minutes. Warm gently until fully dissolved, then set aside to cool slightly.
Step 2: Whip the Egg Whites
In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add half the sugar and continue beating until glossy and stiff.
Step 3: Sweeten the Cream
In another bowl, whip the cream with the remaining sugar until soft peaks form.
Step 4: Fold with Grace
Gently fold the cooled lemon-gelatin mixture into the whipped cream, then fold in the meringue (egg whites) in thirds. Take your time — this mousse is all about air and light.
Step 5: Chill & Serve
Spoon the mousse into elegant glass cups or ramekins. Chill for at least 3 hours, or until softly set. Just before serving, crown with fresh berries and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
The Ritual
This is a dessert meant for a sunlit brunch table, a slow afternoon with linen napkins and vintage spoons. It pairs beautifully with fresh-cut flowers and good conversation — all the things we love most at HomeandFashion.love.
Lemon mousse is proof that simplicity can be the ultimate luxury.
